A MINISTRY OF COMPASSION

Holy Sews, inc. was organized to respond to a call to serve as God’s hands in the world; to show compassion to families experiencing miscarriage or stillbirth; to provide handmade burial clothing to treasure these infants who are too small for even preemie clothing; and to educate communities in caring for families experiencing infant loss.

A PATTERN FOR COMPASSION

Holy Sews Extends Comfort to Grieving Families

Regina Binz’s devastating loss in 2007 during her 17th week of pregnancy sparked a life-changing mission. Discovering her unborn son, Ryan, no longer had a heartbeat shattered her world. Holding Ryan’s delicate body, wrapped in a hospital blanket, etched a poignant memory in her heart and planted a seed. From this tragedy, Holy Sews was born.

Since 2008, Regina has dedicated herself to providing appropriate burial clothing to parents who have experienced miscarriage or stillbirth. What began as a local Arkansas ministry has now grown nationwide. Regina recognized early on that this was her calling and believes, “This is what I’m supposed to do.”

Regina acknowledges that she created the pattern out of compassion but credits the individuals who have joined hands and hearts to shape the ministry into what it is today.

Layettes of Love

A layette includes a fleece or knitted blanket, a tunic and wrap, a knitted hat, a teddy bear and a remembrance card. It gives parents the beautiful experience of dressing their baby in honor and dignity.

Creating Layettes

The layettes are made at home by the loving hands of our many volunteers. We have workdays each month (see our Events Section for dates and locations) in Little Rock and Hot Springs Village, Arkansas; Dallas/Fort Worth, Texas; Oneonta, New York; Mount Vernon, Illinois; and Springfield, Missouri. Volunteers are needed to cut fabric and ribbon, sew trim on blankets and buttons on tunics and to match sets together to prepare them for delivery.

Distributing Layettes

We currently serve over 1005 hospitals, funeral homes, and organizations in all 50 states. We provide the layettes at no charge. Our plans are to continue extending our services into more hospitals, funeral homes, OB-GYN Clinics, and perinatal bereavement programs throughout the United States.

MENDING HEARTS TESTIMONIALS

“Your organization’s contributions go above and beyond, as these intricate little bundles of handiwork are very moving. It is definitely much more than just cotton and yarn, stitches and ribbons . . . it is love.”
